Please vote against confirming RFK Jr, Dave Weldon, Tulsi Gabbard, Pete Hegseth, Kristi Noem, and Linda McMahon for any government positions, vote against any nominee who doesn’t undergo a full FBI background check, ensure “recess appointments” are not used to circumvent the Senate confirmation required by the Constitution, and reply letting me know your position.

RFK Jr has been a leading promoter of health misinformation for years. His lies have contributed to the rise in vaccine hesitancy and recent measles outbreaks. His promotion of antivaxxer activists contributed to a measles outbreak in Samoa that killed 83 people, mostly children. He has falsely claimed that: there’s no vaccine that is safe and effective; vaccines cause autism; the polio vaccine did more harm than good; fluoridation of water is harmful; HIV isn’t the cause of AIDS; and that COVID-19 was designed not to harm Jewish and Chinese people. He wants to make vaccination of children optional which would lower vaccination rates further, prevent the achievement of “herd immunity,” and put even vaccinated children at risk if they didn’t achieve full immunity. An antivaxxer and leading promoter of health misinformation is uniquely unqualified to be Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Dave Weldon promoted the false claim that vaccines (and thimerosal, a preservative now only used in some flu vaccines) cause autism. He would appoint like-minded unqualified antivaxxer conspiracy theorists to CDC positions. He would be a terrible CDC Director who would put our children’s and nation’s health at risk.

After the Syrian government dropped nerve gas on its own people from helicopters, Tulsi Gabbard traveled to Syria and came back echoing Syrian government propaganda and falsely claiming that ISIS was responsible for the attack even though ISIS had neither helicopters nor nerve gas. After Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Tulsi immediately echoed Russian propaganda and baselessly blamed the United States for the invasion. A person who believes and promotes Syrian and Russian propaganda is uniquely unqualified to be Director of National Intelligence and would place our national security at risk.

Pete Hegseth is the least-qualified nominee for Secretary of Defense in history. He has no experience running a large organization and no background in defense policy. He was kicked off the list of Inauguration military security personnel after a member of his unit reported him as a potential insider threat for having tattoos associated with white supremacism. He showed poor judgement in by his own admission knowingly having sex with a married woman he’d just met and paid a settlement to the same woman after she accused him of sexual assault. Being a talk show host on Fox doesn’t prepare you to run the Defense Department. Our nation and service members deserve a qualified leader who consistently acts with integrity and shows good judgement.

As South Dakota Democratic Party Chair Shane Merrill notes, Kristi Noem “lacks the qualifications to lead Homeland Security. Her years as South Dakota’s governor have proven that she is not equipped to lead such a critical department that safeguards the security of the American people …. She has faced allegations of misusing her office to help her daughter which resulted in a settlement that cost the state $200,000. Noem is currently banned from all nine Tribal reservations due to her accusations about drug cartels on tribal land and saying Native children ‘don’t have any hope’. She used taxpayer money to send the National Guard to the US/Mexico border for publicity stunts. Her administration has seen constant turnover and she has eroded government transparency. Our state government is also in the middle of corruption investigations involving former state employees. These scandals show that Gov. Noem does not have what it takes to lead a federal department. The American people deserve someone who is more qualified and competent to head the Department of Homeland Security.” She also refused to acknowledge that Biden was the rightful winner of the 2020 election.

Running World Wrestling Entertainment hardly prepares Linda McMahon to be responsible for our children’s education. Worse, it is alleged in a pending lawsuit that Linda and her husband were aware that one of their employees was grooming and molesting boy volunteers at WWE, that they fired him due to the allegations, that they then rehired him with guidance to keep his distance from boys, and that the employee then continued to molest boys and that Linda and her husband knew and took no action. Obviously it’s inappropriate to put someone in charge of children’s education when it is credibly alleged they have failed to protect children in their employ in the past.
